ADVOCACY

Peggy Cartier Batakis grew up in New Hampshire. She has always been passionate about animal related causes and will be publishing a book about the plight of an elephant named Kito - forced into the harsh life of a circus.
Peggy grew up far from Kito’s homeland, yet her memories of going to the circus as a child made her feel sad for the animals involved.
“After reading an article in Animal Times by PETA about how elephants were trained for the circus I was shocked. That was the inspiration for Kito’s story.”
Peggy earned her Bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the Massachusetts College of Fine Art. She lives in New Hampshire with her dogs Toto and Munchkin. She hopes Kito’s story will help raise awareness about the treatment of ALL circus animals.
